Over 100 people feared burnt to death in Artsakh fuel depot blast

More than 100 people may have been burnt to death in Monday’s powerful explosion at a fuel depot in Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh), Artsakh’s former Ombudsman and State Minister Artak Beglaryan says.

At least 20 people were killed and 290 others injured in the blast at the facility near Stepanakert on Monday evening. Dozens of hospitalized victims remain in critical condition.

The Artsakh Ministry of Health said 13 unidentified bodies were found at the scene and seven more died in hospital.

“Many have gone missing, with witnesses estimating that over 100 people were fully burned in the fire,” Beglaryan said in a social media post on Tuesday.

“A medical helicopter arrived from Armenia to evacuate the injured,” he added.
