The lawyers of former Armenian President Robert Kocharyan’s son, Levon Kocharyan, have challenged his arrest in the appellate court.
In a statement on Friday, the defense team said it had requested the Court of Appeals to overturn the order of a first instance court to place him in pre-trial detention for one month on Monday.
Levon Kocharyan was arrested during anti-government protests in Yerevan on Saturday and was later hospitalized with brain concussion.
His lawyer Alexander Kochubayev said that the policemen who tortured him filed a report that Kocharyan had beaten four riot police officers. He rejected the accusations as politically motivated.
