Armenian parliament ratifies Rome Statute

The Armenian parliament voted on Tuesday to ratify the Rome Statute, the founding treaty of the International Criminal Court (ICC).

A total of 60 deputies, all from the ruling Civil Contract faction, backed the proposal.

22 opposition lawmakers voted against the ratification of the treaty.

The opposition Hayastan and Pativ Unem factions boycotted debates on the document, but joined the vote.

Opposition MPs argued that its ratification would do no good to Armenia.
