Armenian weightlifter Simon Martirosyan found not guilty in road accident case

Armenian weightlifter, world and European champion Simon Martirosyan has been found not guilty in a car accident case, his lawyer Ruben Baloyan said on Thursday.

“Congratulations, dear Simon, the pride of the Armenian nation!" the lawyer wrote on Facebook.

A criminal case was launched against Martirosyan after a man died as he was hit by the athlete's vehicle in Yerevan in April 2021. The victim was crossing the road in a non-pedestrian area late at night.
