Former Armenian MP arrested for 'inciting violence'

Former Armenian lawmaker Aragats Akhoyan has been arrested on charges of “inciting violence” on social media, the Investigative Committee reported on Tuesday.

The law-enforcement agency said Akhoyan made “public calls for violence” in a post on Facebook on June 8.

The calls concerned Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and his teammates.

A first instance court in Yerevan approved Akhoyan’s pre-trial detention for one month on Monday.
