The Armenian National Assembly passed in the first reading a government-drafted bill that would revoke honorary titles in the country.
The measure was approved by 64 votes to 31 at a parliament sitting on Tuesday.
The draft law says that the popularity of any artist or cultural figure cannot be determined “at the discretion of an expert group”.
It calls for retaining only the Distinguished Collective Honorary Title aimed at encouraging teams.
