Ex-Yerevan mayor setting up new party

Former Yerevan Mayor Hayk Marutyan is setting up a new party in the near future, his team has confirmed to RFE/RL’s Armenian Service.

The party called “New Power” is expected to hold a congress on May 1.

Marutyan was ousted as an opposition member of the Yerevan City Council in early February.

He later unveiled plans to create a new party and run in the next parliamentary elections.
