EU to allocate €270 million in grants to Armenia

The European Union will provide €270 million in grants to Armenia over the next four years, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said on Friday.

"We will invest in making the Armenian economy and society more robust and resistant to shocks, we will support your businesses, your talents, in particular your small and medium enterprises,” she said at a press briefing ahead of talks in Brussels with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken.

Von der Leyen stated the four-year "resilience and growth" package of financial grants for Armenia showed the EU stood "shoulder to shoulder" with Yerevan.

"Europe and Armenia share a long and common history and the time has come to write now a new chapter," she said.
