Armenia's Varazdat Lalayan wins IWF World Cup gold

Armenian weightlifter Varazdat Lalayan has earned a gold medal at the IWF World Cup in Phuket, Thailand.

The super heavyweight lifted a total of 463kg on Thursday, recording a 210kg snatch and 253kg clean and jerk and securing his spot at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Armenia’s Simon Martirosyan finished 4th with a total lift of 440kg (195kg+245kg).

Earlier, Garik Karapetyan won a silver medal in the 102kg weight class.
