Yerevan.Today: Contract soldiers serving on border quit Armenian military

A group of contract servicemen serving on the border with Azerbaijan in Armenia’s Tavush Province are quitting the Armenian army amid territorial concessions to Baku, Yerevan.Today reports, citing its sources.

In particular, the soldiers are guarding the army posts that will end up on the Azerbaijani side following the border demarcation.

“They did everything to defend the border posts, now they have to withdraw from the areas with a heavy heart,” a source told Yerevan.Today.

“Taking into account yesterday's developments in Kirants and the subsequent reaction from Armenia’s Defense Ministry and Investigative Committee, no other data is published,” the media outlet said.

Protests against unilateral territorial concessions to Azerbaijan have been held in Tavush and other parts of Armenia, including Yerevan, for a few days now.
