Contract soldiers join protests in Armenia's Tavush

Around 20 contract soldiers joined ongoing protests against unilateral territorial concessions to Azerbaijan in Armenia’s Tavush Province late on Friday.

"Contract servicemen are joining the struggle," the Tavush for the Homeland movement said in a social media post.

In statement issued later, the Armenian Defense Ministry said the military police were working to identify the protesters wearing military uniforms and warned against efforts to involve the Armenian army into political processes.

The protests began late on 19 April after the Armenian authorities announced a border delimitation deal involving the handover of four villages in Tavush to Azerbaijan.
