Armenian contract soldier found dead

An Armenian contract soldier was found dead at his combat post early on Friday morning.

The Defense Ministry reported that the serviceman, identified as Armen Gasparyan, sustained a fatal gunshot injury.

“An investigation is underway to fully elucidate the circumstances surrounding the incident,” the ministry said in a statement.

“The Defense Ministry extends its deepest condolences and support to the family, relatives and comrades of the serviceman,” it added.
