Protester injured outside Armenian parliament to undergo second surgery

A protester, who was injured by police forces outside the Armenian parliament on June 12, is to undergo a second surgery, his wife revealed.

The man, Yesayi Karamyan, sustained a severe hand injury after riot police used stun grenades to disperse demonstrators demanding Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s resignation.

“He is set to undergo a second hand surgery in the coming days. The operation will be performed under general anesthesia, but, fortunately, his life is out of danger,” the man’s wife said on social media on Saturday, adding his right hand will remain paralyzed due to the injury.

She thanked all those who supported them, as well as reporters covering the events.

The woman denounced police officers for the violent crackdown on protesters and insisted on accountability for those who ordered it.
