Film about Sergei Parajanov to close Golden Apricot

This year's Golden Apricot Yerevan International Film Festival will end with Arsen Azatyan and Narine Mkrtchyan’s The Boogeyman dedicated to and exploring the phenomenon of Sergei Parajanov, organizers said.

According to the two authors, this is a "psychoanalysis of the master’s otherworldly essence, a search for other dimensions that we don’t always have the courage to even think about.”

Created in 1991, this experimental documentary, which not only contains exclusive footage from the last days of Parajanov’s life, but also includes footage from the master’s unfinished film Confession, was screened and awarded at Nyon, Rotterdam, Berlin and a number of other festivals in the 1990s.

Now, the film, finally restored, will conclude GAIFF in the year of Sergei Parajanov’s 100th anniversary.
