Artsakh mayor released from house arrest

Misha Gyurjyan, the exiled mayor of the Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) town of Martakert, has been released from house arrest, his lawyer Arsen Babayan said.

“I hope that the Investigative Committee will soon drop the criminal charges against him as well,” he wrote on Facebook on Thursday.

Gyurjyan was arrested on 25 May after signaling support for protests against Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.

He was charged with fraud and forgery under Articles 255 and 457 of Armenia's Penal Code.
