Senior Armenian MP says unaware of plans for his dismissal

Pro-government lawmaker Andranik Kocharyan, the chairman of the Armenian parliament committee on defense and security, claims that he is unaware of any plans for his dismissal.

Citing its sources, RFE/RL’s Armenian Service reported that several members of the ruling Civil Contact party sought Kocharyan’s dismissal as the committee chair after his involvement in a political scandal.

“I’m unaware of such a move,” he told reporters on Tuesday, accusing them of a “coordinated attack” on him.

He asked the RFE/RL reporter to identify its sources, but the latter rejected the request.

“So, it’s fake news,” the MP stated.
