Pashinyan criticized for failure to congratulate Moldova's president on re-election

Artur Sakunts, a human rights activist who heads the Helsinki Citizens' Assembly-Vanadzor, on Monday criticized Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan for his failure to congratulate Moldova's incumbent President Maia Sandu on winning a presidential runoff.

Pro-European Sandu won 55.41 percent of the vote, according to near-complete results published by the election commission. Her rival, Alexandr Stoianoglo, who is supported by the pro-Russian Socialists, won 44.59 percent.

“Has the Armenian prime minister not yet congratulated the president of Moldova on her re-election and the results of the referendum on Moldova's accession to the EU?” Sakunts wrote on Facebook.

“Is Maia Sandu not even as good as Lukashenko? And I am not even talking about the crucial referendum on the EU accession,” he added.
