Senator Jadot urges French government to boycott COP29 in Baku

French Senator Yannick Jadot has called on the French government to boycott the COP29 UN climate summit in Baku.

“COP29 Azerbaijan is not only the instrument of legitimization of a dictatorship but also a tool for the regime to promote its oil industry,” Jadot said, addressing the Senate..

“The climate emergency requires international cooperation, but not by serving a dictatorship guilty of ethnic cleansing in Nagorno-Karabakh, which represses the political opposition and threatens civil society.

“The government must boycott the COP! For the climate, for human rights, for the Armenian people, it is time to practice a diplomacy of courage and human rights,” the senator stated.
