Ruling party blocks statement on Armenian prisoners

The parliamentary faction of Armenia's ruling Civil Contract party on Tuesday blocked a statement demanding the release of Armenian prisoners held in Azerbaijan.

The opposition Hayastan and Pativ Unem factions initiated a special sitting to call for international pressure on Azerbaijan during the COP29 UN climate summit to release all Armenian prisoners of war and hostages.

However, the statement was rejected as only 30 opposition deputies voted for it.
