Armenia’s SJC fails to elect new chairman

Armenia's Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) failed to elect a new chairman at its meeting on Thursday.

The judicial oversight body said in a statement that none of the candidates garnered the necessary votes to take up the post.

SJC member Karen Tumanyan continues to temporarily perform the chairman’s duties.

The post has remained vacant after Karen Andreasyan’s resignation last week.
