Oragir.News names descendants of genocide survivors who failed to respond to Pashinyan

At a meeting with the Armenian community in Switzerland on Sunday, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan questioned why the Armenian Genocide was not part of the national agenda in 1939 but became prominent in 1950.

“We need to understand what happened, why it happened, how we perceived it and who shaped that perception. Why wasn't the Armenian Genocide issue part of the national agenda in 1939, yet it surfaced in 1950?” he remarked.

Oragir.News highlights that this marks the first time in the history of genocide-surviving nations that a leader of a survivor country has denied the genocide.

“No leader of Armenia, even during the most challenging times of the Bolshevik regime, has ever made such statements,” the media outlet commented.

The report condemned the failure of the meeting attendees, descendants of Armenian Genocide survivors, to respond to Pashinyan’s remarks.

“It's shocking that those present, as descendants of genocide victims, silently accepted Pashinyan’s explanation of the term 'Armenian Genocide' without offering any rebuttal to his questioning of the genocide itself. They can only be described as scoundrels,” the report said.
