Political analyst: Pashinyan using tactics developed by Young Turks

Political analyst Hrant Melik-Shahnazaryan stressed the need to restore leadership in Armenia while speaking at an event organized by Archbishop Bagrat Galstanyan on the 33rd anniversary of the Armenian army celebrated on January 28.

“Both military and political leaders should set clear objectives for the armed forces and ensure their fulfillment,” he said.

Melik-Shahnazaryan expressed optimism about the nation’s potential, stating, “By addressing leadership issues, we can achieve victory once again, live freely with Christian pride and ensure our security.”

He highlighted the vital role of the army in preserving Armenia’s identity and ensuring its freedom.

Commenting on Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s recent remarks on the Armenian Genocide, the analyst accused him of promoting Turkish narratives. “Pashinyan is reshaping the Armenian Genocide issue in a way that aligns with Turkey’s interests, risking its dismissal as a political and justice-driven matter,” he stressed.

“He is using the tactics developed by the Young Turks to lead the nation to downfall,” Melik-Shahnazaryan stated, accusing the premier of attempting to turn security agencies into tools reminiscent of the Janissaries.

The analyst warned that Pashinyan’s statements undermine efforts towards the international recognition of the Armenian Genocide, weaken the global fight against crimes against humanity and threaten Armenia’s security.
