9 prosecuted over deadly shootout in Armenian village

Nine people are facing prosecution in connection with the deadly shootout in Merdzavan, a village in Armenia’s Armavir Province.

Three of the suspects have been detained, Investigative Committee spokesperson Kima Avdalyan told Panorama.am on Thursday. The preliminary investigation is underway.

The shooting targeted the house of the village chief, Mher Akhtoyan, leaving one killed and another wounded.

A criminal case has been launched into murder, attempted murder, illegal possession of weapons and hooliganism.
