Paris City Council calls for release of former Nagorno-Karabakh leaders

The Paris City Council on Thursday unanimously adopted a resolution expressing deep concern over the “alarming situation” of former Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh) leaders illegally detained in Azerbaijan, the Armenian Embassy in France reported.

At the invitation of Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo, Armenian Ambassador to France Arman Khachatryan attended the session. The resolution underscores Hidalgo’s visits to Armenia and her steadfast solidarity with the Armenian people, reaffirming the council’s full support for Armenia and its citizens.

Addressing the arrests, detention conditions and fabricated charges against the former Nagorno-Karabakh leaders in Baku, the Paris City Council denounced their unlawful imprisonment and sham trials, calling for their immediate release.
