MP Tigran Abrahamyan marks Artsakh movement anniversary

Opposition lawmaker Tigran Abrahamyan took to Facebook on Thursday to mark the 37th anniversary of the Artsakh movement.

"This movement was not only about Artsakh, its self-determination and struggle. It was a nationwide process centered around a common idea which led to Armenia's independence, Artsakh’s self-determination and ultimately, the Armenian people's victory in war,” the Pativ Unem faction MP wrote.

“What do we have today? A defeated and divided Armenia, a surrendered Artsakh and deep disappointment. Have we, as a nation, exhausted our capacity for struggle and resistance? Absolutely not! What is the path forward after the horrifying events that have befallen us? First and foremost, it lies in courage, determination and resistance.

“The true enemies along this path are cowardice, division, the pursuit of wealth and power as ends in themselves, despair, surrender, betrayal of ideals and comrades, collaboration with oppressors, and passive acceptance of the tragedy that has struck our people.

“Can we find the strength to rebuild? That depends solely on us because this is a fight for the very existence of the Armenian people and the creation of a strong state. On this momentous day, above all, we must remember and honor those who fought and triumphed. Eternal glory to our martyrs!" Abrahamyan said.
