Protesters demand urgent action on Armenian prisoners held in Azerbaijan

A large crowd, including politicians and public figures, on Friday gathered outside the Armenian Foreign Ministry, demanding urgent action regarding Armenian prisoners illegally held in Azerbaijan.

Holding photos of businessman and philanthropist Ruben Vardanyan, a former Artsakh state minister who appeared visibly emaciated during his sham trial in Baku, the demonstrators called for immediate intervention.

They also urged the Foreign Ministry to convene a meeting of foreign diplomats accredited in Armenia to address the plight of Armenian prisoners.

“The silence of the Armenian government and the international community amounts to tacit support for Azerbaijan’s brutalities,” they stated earlier.
