Who will remove Nikol? Mikayel Minasyan says critical question remains unanswered

Former Armenian Ambassador to the Holy See, Mikayel Minasyan, calls on the opposition to move beyond fruitless debates and instead focus on the urgent issue of how to oust Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. Below is his article posted on Facebook on Wednesday.

"Seven years have passed since 2018. During this time, Armenia has witnessed nationwide elections, numerous municipal elections, the formation of a coalition government, a devastating, orchestrated and ultimately lost war, the abandonment of Artsakh, and, finally, its surrender. Meanwhile, around 20,000 hectares of Armenia’s sovereign territory have been occupied.

Throughout these years, Armenia has experienced significant, historic and tragic events, all revolving around the 2021 elections. The election results were not disputed and the key political players declared it a victory. After 2021, the nation found itself in a state of disgrace. The destruction of Artsakh de facto entered its practical phase, which was formally completed a year later. Meanwhile, Armenia embarked on a path of slow self-destruction.

And now, seven years later, those who once vowed to rid the country of the 'Nikol plague' are still chasing the ghost of who brought him to power in 2018.

The people refuse to acknowledge the catastrophic consequences of the revolution, while the classical opposition refuses to acknowledge the revolution itself. The reason is simple: they do not want to admit that they were the root cause of the revolution and bear direct responsibility for what happened. By avoiding discussions about the deeper reasons behind the revolution, the opposition is left with nothing but denial, endlessly chanting the mantra: "Who brought Nikol to power in 2018?"

This situation benefits only one person – Nikol Pashinyan – who skillfully capitalizes on the mistakes of both the people and the opposition to maintain his grip on power.

This meaningless debate proves only one thing: these people are incapable of offering a real strategy to remove Nikol.
