Political analyst explains Pashinyan’s 'Real Armenia' concept

Political analyst Stepan Danielyan has unveiled the core tenets of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s so-called "Real Armenia" concept.

"For those who still do not fully understand what the so-called 'Real Armenia' ideology entails, let me outline its core principles:

- We are surrounded by Turkey and Azerbaijan, a reality that cannot be changed.
- Our ancestors failed to accept this fact, resisted Turkish and Azerbaijani rule and were consequently punished.
- Foreign powers have historically exploited our enmity with the Turks for their own imperialist interests.

Therefore, we must accept this 'reality' and:

- Comply with all demands imposed on us.
- Forget the Armenian Genocide, as we are supposedly to blame for seeking independent statehood.
- Renounce Artsakh, a decision unconsciously made by the current authorities promoting the 'Real Armenia' concept.
- Revise our culture and history textbooks, erase past literature imbued with nationalism and anti-Turkish sentiments.
- Ultimately, in one form or another, surrender Syunik, seen as an obstacle to the Turkic world, and perhaps even part of Lake Sevan.

After all this, the Turks will take pity on us, no longer have justification to be our enemies and we will be left with a diminished territory called ‘Real Armenia'. Perhaps, this could help us survive,” Danielyan wrote on Facebook on Thursday.

“These ideas have been carefully crafted, and their ideological architect is Gerard Libaridian, the intellectual father of the Civil Contract party and not only,” he added.
