Armenian MP warns of alarming signals of possible aggression against Iran

Amid Azerbaijan's ongoing political ambitions and propaganda efforts, alarming signals of potential aggression against Iran are emerging, warns MP Tigran Abrahamyan of the opposition Pativ Unem faction.

"I believe there is no need to elaborate on the risks that possible aggression against our southern neighbor could entail," Abrahamyan wrote on Facebook on Tuesday.

He emphasized that any developments in Iran, a friendly country with deep ties to Armenia, carry both direct and indirect implications for Armenia's security.

"Azerbaijan’s territorial claims against Syunik are, in various ways, linked to possible actions against Iran, making the current situation extremely sensitive and dangerous," the MP said.

"The tough rhetoric from the United States and Iran’s sharp responses do not suggest any de-escalation at least for now. Under these circumstances, the role that Turkey and Azerbaijan are playing and the price they may demand for their involvement in an anti-Iranian front will become clear in due time," Abrahamyan added.
