Gyumri mayoral candidate Ruben Mkhitaryan forced to suspend campaign

Ruben Mkhitaryan, a candidate for mayor of Gyumri in Armenia's Shirak Province, had to suspended his election campaign today at the request of an investigator to travel to Yerevan for questioning, his spokesperson Lilit Harutyunyan reported.

Mkhitaryan said earlier that he had been summoned to the Investigative Committee for questioning.

The summons is related to a report alleging that he had been driving without a valid driver’s license in May 2024.
