No movement or buildup of Azeri troops along Armenia border observed, minister says

Armenian Defense Minister Suren Papikyan stated that satellite images cannot be used to refute Azerbaijan's allegations of ceasefire violations by Armenian forces.

"Satellite images cannot confirm whether shots have been fired. For that, video evidence is necessary. Since the ceasefire accusations are being made not by us, but by our neighbors, we are saying: if you have evidence, any video recordings, please provide them to us," Papikyan told reporters on Friday, responding to a question about why Armenia has not utilized satellite imagery to prove that Azerbaijan's accusations of ceasefire violations by its forces are false.

The minister stressed that if Baku provides relevant video evidence, Armenia is prepared to investigate it.

"To date, we have not received any such evidence. How can we prove something that doesn’t exist? What should I say when there is nothing to discuss?" Papikyan said.

The Armenian defense minister also assured that no movement or buildup of Azerbaijani troops along the border with Armenia has been observed.

"At present, no such activity has been detected on the ground. The Armenian Defense Ministry has not confirmed the disinformation circulating in the media regarding the concentration or movement of troops," Papikyan added.

He noted that the Armenian Ministry of Defense has consistently issued statements and clarifications regarding all instances of dangerous shootings and violations targeting Armenian positions and personnel.
