Azerbaijan reportedly opened intense fire on Armenian positions last night

Mesrop Arakelyan, co-founder of the Country of Living party, has warned that Azerbaijani forces opened intense fire on Armenian army positions near Sotk, Gegharkunik Province, throughout the night.

In a social media post on Friday, Arakelyan accused Defense Minister Suren Papikyan and Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan of failure to address security threats.

In response to such claims, the Armenian Defense Ministry issued a statement urging social media users to refrain from spreading false reports about the border situation.

“In recent days, some social media users have been spreading inaccurate information about the frontline and military positions,” the ministry stated.

“In the event of significant ceasefire violations, the Defense Ministry issues official statements. Any false reports are refuted in accordance with established procedures after multiple verifications.

“We urge everyone to refrain from disseminating unverified, misleading or fabricated reports regarding the army and the border situation and follow only the official updates provided by the Defense Ministry,” reads the statement.
