Homeland Party leader Artur Vanetsyan has expressed confidence that the opposition will secure victory in the upcoming municipal elections in Gyumri, Armenia's second largest city.
Vanetsyan’s remarks came after law enforcement authorities raided the election headquarters and home of opposition mayoral candidate Martun Grigoryan on Thursday. An arrest order was later issued for Grigoryan’s father and son for alleged vote buying.
“Currently, I am watching the convulsions of the Civil Contract party in Gyumri. I feel sorry for you,” Vanetsyan wrote on Facebook.
“The opposition’s victory in the upcoming elections is inevitable. Just sit tight and calm down!” he added.
