Azerbaijan pressures Armenia to meet its demands or risk collapse of peace deal, MP warns

Azerbaijan has taken yet another step toward derailing the Armenian-Azerbaijani negotiation process and escalating tensions, opposition MP Tigran Abrahamyan said.

His comments came after Elchin Amirbayov, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev's envoy for special assignments, urged Armenia to “accelerate the signing of the peace agreement”, emphasizing that the opportunity will not last indefinitely.

"Azerbaijan has made it clear that it will not wait until 2026-2027 for Armenia to amend its constitution, warning that if Baku's preconditions are not met, the negotiated document will become null and void,” the Pativ Unem faction MP wrote on Facebook on Thursday.

According to Abrahamyan, this ultimatum indirectly confirms recent predictions that ceasefire violations along the border over the past week are part of Baku's pressure campaign against Yerevan.

“Meanwhile, what is Armenia’s government and its leader doing? They continue their usual theatrics – justifying yet another failure and shifting the blame onto others," he stressed.
