Gyumri mayoral candidate's family members facing fabricated charges

Martun Grigoryan, the mayoral candidate of Gyumri from the Our City bloc, has claimed that recent raids at his campaign offices are politically motivated and tied to the upcoming municipal elections in Armenia's second largest city.

Speaking to journalists on Thursday, Grigoryan accused authorities of fabricating charges against his family members just three days before the elections. He stated that he had not yet received an official notice regarding the case and was awaiting his lawyer’s arrival.

Grigoryan elaborated that the street cobbling in Gyumri, carried out in early March as part of his duties as an MP, is now being framed by law enforcement authorities as electoral bribery.

“We are used to this. Before every election, similar actions are taken against me, my team and family members. It has become a regular occurrence,” he added.
