Ruling party MPs strip Taron Margaryan and Hovik Aghazaryan of immunity
Lawmakers from Armenia’s ruling Civil Contract party on Thursday voted to revoke the parliamentary immunity of independent MP Hovik Aghazaryan and opposition MP Taron Margaryan, allowing for their prosecution.
All 67 Civil Contract MPs backed the chief prosecutor's request to strip Margaryan of immunity. However, in Aghazaryan's case, two ruling party MPs voted against the motion.
The voting results were announced by Counting Commission Chairman Narek Babayan.
