Pashinyan's party loses Parakar elections

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s Civil Contract party suffered a defeat in Sunday's municipal elections in Parakar, a community in Armenia's Armavir Province.

According to the preliminary results released by the Central Electoral Commission (CEC), Civil Contract received 3,669 votes. The Unity bloc won decisively with 6,508 votes (over 56%).

The winning Unity bloc comprises the Country of Living and Victory parties, led by Valodya Grigoryan.

The two other contenders, the National Progress and Stability parties, garnered 900 and 426 votes, respectively.
