Armenia again denies false Azeri claims of shooting

Azerbaijan once again falsely accused Armenia of a ceasefire violation on Tuesday, the Armenian Defense Ministry reported.

“The statement by the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defense, alleging that on April 8, between 7:20 p.m. and 10:30 p.m., units of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia opened fire towards Azerbaijani combat positions located in the southeastern section of the border, does not correspond to reality,” it said in a statement.

The Armenian Prime Minister's Office has proposed the establishment of a joint Armenia-Azerbaijan mechanism for investigating ceasefire violations and related reports. However, Azerbaijan has yet to respond to this initiative.

"The Defense Ministry of Armenia reaffirms that, in accordance with the position of the Prime Minister's Office, it stands ready to investigate the facts supporting the statement issued by the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry, should they be provided to Armenia," the ministry stressed.
