FFA chief again rejects resignation calls

President of the Football Federation of Armenia (FFA) Armen Melikbekyan once again rejected calls for his resignation at a press conference on Wednesday.

"I’ve already made a statement regarding my resignation. I’ve made it clear that I will not step down and explained why," Melikbekyan said.

He stressed that calls for the resignation of an NGO head, particularly the president of the federation, were fundamentally institutional matters.

"What matters most is the opinion of the members of the institution that elected you. Let me be clear — except for two clubs, I’m in regular discussions with all our other members. They understand both the pace of our progress and the challenges we are facing, including the objective difficulties. That’s why, after engaging with our members, I made my decision which I’ve already publicly announced," he said.

On October 21, 2024, Melikbekyan said he had no intention to resign, emphasizing his focus on upcoming priorities, completing ongoing work and uniting the football community through open dialogue.
