Mirzoyan: 'There is nothing in Armenia's Constitution that says Karabakh is part of Armenia'

Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan stated that Armenia’s Constitution includes no provision asserting that Nagorno-Karabakh is part of Armenia.

"I officially declare that there is nothing in the Constitution of Armenia saying that Karabakh is part of Armenia,” he told a panel discussion at the Antalya Diplomacy Forum on Saturday.

Mirzoyan also addressed concerns about Azerbaijan's Constitution, noting that Armenia refrains from continuously raising the issue due to the draft peace deal.

“We have our own concerns regarding the Azerbaijani Constitution, but we don’t continuously raise the issue because the text of the peace agreement includes a specific provision saying that none of the parties can refer to their internal legislation to justify failure of the implementation of the agreement,” he said.

The panel discussion "Challenges and Opportunities for Regional Cooperation in the South Caucasus" also featured the foreign ministers of Azerbaijan and Georgia.
