Armenian deputy defense minister addresses Azeri cross-border fire

The situation along the Armenia-Azerbaijan border is currently relatively stable, Deputy Defense Minister Arman Sargsyan said on Monday.

“The gunfire reported occasionally is sporadic and not targeted. No troop buildups are observed at the moment,” he told reporters.

The deputy minister also rejected the claims of a discrepancy between his remarks and the official report issued by the Defense Ministry’s press office.

When asked about Azerbaijan’s possible intentions behind the cross-border fire, Sargsyan replied, “I can’t say.”

“The Armenian armed forces are carrying out their duties and ensuring security remains our top priority. At present, the frontline is relatively calm. If any developments occur, we will provide updates promptly,” he added.
