Opposition politician slams Pashinyan's remarks on Karabakh movement

Eduard Sharmazanov, a senior member of the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA), has sharply criticized Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan over his recent remarks about the Karabakh movement, accusing him of undermining Armenia’s sovereignty.

Addressing lawmakers on Thursday, Pashinyan warned against any attempt to continue the Karabakh movement in Armenia, claiming it poses a threat to the country's independence and sovereignty.

“The primary instrument for dismantling Armenia’s sovereignty and independence is you, Nikol Pashinyan,” Sharmazanov wrote on Facebook.

He asserted that the Karabakh movement symbolizes the Armenian people's sacred struggle against Azerbaijani neo-fascism and in defense of the Artsakh Armenians' right to live with dignity.

“A free Artsakh is one of the key guarantees for Armenia and the Armenian world to become a regional power,” Sharmazanov stated. “Yet you not only eliminated that factor, but also turned Armenia into a tool in the hands of your Turkish-Azerbaijani handlers.”

“By rejecting the ideals of the Karabakh movement and the Declaration of Independence, you, Nikol, have become the gravedigger of the Third Republic of Armenia," he added.
