Artsakh ombudsman blasts pro-government MP's comments

Artsakh Human Rights Defender Gegham Stepanyan has denounced pro-government MP Khachatur Sukiasyan’s latest remarks about Artsakh Armenians as deeply offensive and immoral.

In an interview on Thursday, Sukiasyan, who represents Armenia's ruling Civil Contract party, claimed that the Artsakh people “did not fight” during the 2023 Azerbaijani offensive.

“Does the person making such immoral statements even grasp the mental suffering he inflicts on the families of those martyred in September 2023?” Stepanyan wrote on Facebook.

“The people of Artsakh escaped complete physical annihilation due to their ultimate sacrifice. It's pointless to respond to such remarks with facts as they are made deliberately,” be added.
