Volodya Grigoryan, a member of the Country to Live party nominated by the Unity bloc, was sworn in as mayor of Parakar, a community in Armenia's Armavir Province, at a local council meeting on Saturday.
Grigoryan took an oath to uphold the law and serve the interests of the community. The ceremony was marked by the national anthem and a round of prolonged applause.
His appointment follows the March 30 snap municipal elections in Parakar, where 11,528 out of 20,967 eligible voters cast their ballots.
The election results were as follows:
Civil Contract party – 3,669 votes, 7 council seats
Unity bloc – 6,508 votes, 12 council seats
National Progress Party – 900 votes, 2 council seats
Stability Party – 426 votes, no council seats
