Mozart's 'Requiem' to be performed on Armenian Genocide anniversary

On April 23 at 11:59 p.m., Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Requiem will be performed at the Aram Khachaturian Concert Hall in Yerevan to commemorate the Armenian Genocide victims on its 110th anniversary.

The concert features the Armenian National Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of artistic director and principal conductor Eduard Topchjan, the Armenian Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports reports.

Soloists include Anna Aglatova (soprano), Sofia Tumanyan (mezzo-soprano), Tigran Melkonyan (tenor) and Milan Siljanov (bass). They will be joined by the Hover State Chamber Choir led by Sona Hovhannisyan and the Yerevan State Chamber Choir conducted by Kristina Voskanyan.

Mozart’s Requiem, his final and unfinished masterpiece, stands as one of the most powerful works in classical music, known for its emotional depth and spiritual grandeur. The performance is part of a series of events organized by the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports to mark the 110th genocide anniversary.
