Vardan Ghukasyan's son-in-law appointed deputy mayor of Gyumri

Avetis Arakelyan, the son-in-law of Gyumri Mayor Vardan Ghukasyan, was elected first deputy mayor following a city council vote on Friday. Seventeen council members supported his candidacy, while the Civil Contract faction abstained from voting.

“Regardless of family ties, I will be even more demanding of Avetis,” Ghukasyan announced. “Working with me is both easy and difficult. I will be uncompromising on every issue.”

Arakelyan thanked the supporting fellow councilors and the Gyumri mayor, pledging to contribute to the city’s development to the best of his ability.
