Serzh Sargsyan: Nothing can be achieved without struggle

As part of Armenian University’s ongoing lecture series featuring leaders of the victorious first Artsakh war, its students and professors on Friday met with Armenia’s third President Serzh Sargsyan, former chairman of the Nagorno-Karabakh Self-Defense Forces Committee and later of the Defense Committee of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (1989–1993).

The meeting was organized in accordance with an agreement reached weeks earlier. The discussion focused on key themes from the early 1990s, including the military formation during the war, the state-building process, nationwide mobilization efforts and the subsequent evolution of national policy.

During the event, political analyst Edgar Elbakyan asked Sargsyan, a hero of Artsakh, to donate a copy of the strategic map of the Shushi liberation operation to the Armenian University.

“I want us to set a goal and see it through. Hope, faith and honor. Nothing can be achieved without struggle,” Sargsyan said.
