Azerbaijan destroys Armenian memorials in Artsakh village

Azerbaijani forces have destroyed the memorial wall bearing portrait reliefs of fallen Armenian freedom fighters in the village of Vank in the Martakert region of Azeri-occupied Artsakh. They also demolished the monument to the victims of the 1941-1945 Great Patriotic War and a khachkar (cross-stone) commemorating those who died in the Artsakh liberation struggle.

"Azerbaijan’s barbaric, anti-Armenian and anti-cultural policy of destruction continues unchecked in Artsakh," the State Service for the Protection of Historical Environment said in a post on Facebook.

"The nomads have destroyed the World War II memorial, the khachkar honoring the fallen heroes of the Artsakh liberation war and the memorial wall with portraits of fallen freedom fighters in the village of Vank, Martakert,” the report said.
