Opposition leader: Armenia ceded territories to Azerbaijan without receiving anything in return

The border delimitation and demarcation process in Armenia’s Tavush Province was unlawful and violated international norms, Seyran Ohanyan, the leader of the opposition Hayastan faction in the Armenian parliament, stated on Monday.

“This is not a mutual delimitation and demarcation process,” Ohanyan told reporters. “It's a unilateral concession imposed by the adversary at a specific border section.”

“Armenia has ceded sovereign territories to Azerbaijan without receiving anything in return,” he emphasized.

The opposition leader stated that Azerbaijan continues to dictate the terms of the process.

“Why hasn’t Azerbaijan made any concessions in other areas, such as the Kirants-Berkaber border section, where Armenia controls over 800 hectares of land?” he asked. “If this were a genuine process of mutual compromise, concessions would have been made there as well. When two rival states seek to become peaceful neighbors, they should delimit and demarcate their shared border through mutual concessions,” Ohanyan argued.
