MP: Sham trials in Baku target more than just detained Armenians

The ongoing sham trials of Artsakh's leaders in Baku are part of wider efforts by Azerbaijan to delegitimize the Artsakh liberation struggle, Armenian opposition MP Tigran Abrahamyan states.

"At first glance, it may seem that the trials solely target the detained Armenians," he wrote on Facebook on Tuesday. "In reality, Azerbaijan is using falsification tactics to discredit the national liberation struggle and portray its leaders as international criminals. This is part of a broader campaign to demonize the Armenian people and erase their historical achievements.”

He also drew attention to footage presented during a recent court hearing in Baku featuring former Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan, who once headed the Nagorno-Karabakh Self-Defense Committee. The video showed Sargsyan visiting frontline positions, where he was greeted by prominent commanders Monte Melkonian and David Ishkhanyan.
